Redeem points for store credit

With the Simple Store Credit plugin active, customers can exchange their points for store credit. There are two ways to offer it: a Store Credit reward with a fixed amount and points cost, and a Convert points tool where the customer chooses how many points to convert. Both need the Simple Store Credit integration.

Add a Store Credit reward

1. Go to Points & Rewards › Settings › Rewards and add a reward.
2. Set Reward Type to Store Credit.
3. Enter the Amount of credit, the Points Required and a Reward Name.
4. Choose Deliver As: the store credit default, Account balance or Credit voucher. Only the types switched on in Simple Store Credit are listed.
5. For vouchers, optionally set Voucher Expiry (days). Leave it at 0 to use the expiry set in Simple Store Credit.

When a customer claims the reward, the dashboard shows the new balance, or the voucher code with Apply to Cart. If the credit cannot be issued, the points are given back. Store Credit rewards are hidden while Simple Store Credit is not active.

Let customers convert any number of points

The Convert points tool is on by default. Its settings are under Points & Rewards › Settings › Simple Store Credit, in the Redeem points for store credit section:

• Let customers convert any number of points into store credit: switches the tool on or off.
• Conversion rate: the same rate as the points discount, or a Custom rate with its own Number of points and Store credit value.
• Minimum points per conversion and Maximum points per conversion: 0 means no limit.
• Deliver converted credit as: account balance or credit voucher, with an optional Voucher expiry (days).
• Section heading, Section description and Button text: your own wording for the tool.
• Show the conversion tool on the rewards dashboard: turn it off to place the tool yourself with the shortcode below.

The labels on the tab use your own points and store credit labels.

What customers see

The tool appears on the Claim Rewards tab of the rewards dashboard. It shows the rate, what the customer’s points are worth, and their current store credit balance. The customer enters the points to convert (or clicks Max), sees the credit amount straight away, and confirms. The credit is issued at once and cannot be undone.

The credit value is always rounded down to the nearest cent. Customers who do not have enough points yet see how many more they need. Logged-out visitors are asked to log in, and banned customers cannot convert.

Place the tool anywhere

Add the [spar_points_to_store_credit] shortcode to any page or post to show the conversion tool there. It has no attributes. It shows nothing while the rewards program is switched off or the integration is not active.
