Migrating from Another Plugin

If you are moving from another loyalty or points plugin, you can bring your customers’ points with you. Use the migration tool if the other plugin is a supported WooCommerce plugin that is still installed, or import a CSV file from any other platform.

Supported plugins

The migration tool can copy points from:

  • Points and Rewards for WooCommerce by WP Swings
  • WooCommerce Points and Rewards (the official Woo extension)
  • WPLoyalty
  • MyRewards by Long Watch Studio
  • YITH WooCommerce Points and Rewards

What can be migrated

  • Current points balance
  • Total points earned (lifetime)
  • Birthday date
  • Referral code or coupon
  • Active or banned status (WP Swings and WPLoyalty only)

Not every plugin stores every field, so some options may not apply.

Run a migration

  1. Back up your database. If you can, run the migration on a staging site first.
  2. Make sure the old plugin is still active. The tool reads its data directly.
  3. Go to Points & Rewards › Migration, or click Start Migration on the Migrate from Another Plugin card under Points & Rewards › Tools. Both only appear while a supported plugin is active.
  4. Choose the Source plugin.
  5. Choose the Migration type: Override current points with source points, or Add source points to current points.
  6. Tick the Data to migrate.
  7. Click Start migration and check the migration log for any customers that were skipped.

The migration tool has no preview, so check a few customers’ balances afterwards. Customers are not sent a points earned email for migrated points. Once you are happy with the result, you can deactivate the old plugin.

Import from a CSV file instead

If your old plugin is not in the list above, or is no longer installed, export your customers to a CSV file and import it. The CSV import shows a preview before anything changes, and can also be run with WP-CLI. See Import points from a CSV file.
