Guest Customer Tracking (Pro)

Simple Points and RewardsUpdated October 27, 2026

By default, points are only tracked for logged-in WordPress users. The Guest Customer Tracking module extends the programme to non-logged-in shoppers, allowing them to accumulate points that are later transferred to their account when they register or log in.

How It Works

  1. A guest customer places an order (checked out as guest).
  2. Points are stored against their email address in a separate guest points database table.
  3. When the guest registers an account (or logs in with the same email), their accumulated guest points are merged into their account balance.

Enabling Guest Tracking

Go to Points & Rewards › Settings and enable Guest Customer Tracking in the Pro Modules section.

Guest Email Notifications

When guest tracking is enabled, the plugin can send points confirmation emails to guest customers at their order email address, letting them know they’ve earned points and encouraging them to create an account to access the full rewards dashboard.

Points Sync on Registration

When a guest customer creates an account, the plugin automatically detects any guest points associated with their email and transfers them to the new account. This happens immediately on account creation.

Refunds of guest orders

When Also deduct points when part of an order is refunded is on (under Ways to Earn › Points for Spending), a partial refund of a guest order takes back the refunded share of points. This works whether the points are still held for the guest, waiting out the points delay, or already in the account the guest created. Deleting the refund gives the points back.

Guest points sync

The guest points sync records each older order with the date it was placed. The Guest Points list shows those dates as the first and last order date, and the points delay counts from them. Running the sync again corrects orders that an earlier sync recorded with the wrong date.

Guest points in the API

Guest points are available through the /guests REST API endpoint and the List guest points AI ability. A webhook can also send a guest.points_added event when a guest earns points. Set these up at Points & Rewards › API, Webhooks & AI. See REST API endpoints reference.

Limitations

  • Guest customers cannot access the Rewards dashboard or claim reward vouchers – they must create an account to do so.
  • The referral programme requires a logged-in account to generate referral links.
  • Levels progression is only tracked for registered accounts.
