Export and import your data
Updated September 11, 2026
You can download your plugin configuration as a file, restore it later or on another site, and export customer balances and the activity log as CSV.
Export your settings
At the very bottom of Points & Rewards › Settings there is a small Import / Export Settings link. It is collapsed by default, so it is easy to miss. Open it and choose Export Settings.
You get a JSON file named for the date, containing every plugin setting along with the plugin version and the site it came from. Take one before any significant reconfiguration — it is the fastest way back if a change does not work out.
Import a settings file
In the same panel, choose a file and click Import Settings. You are asked to confirm first, because imported values overwrite your current ones.
A few things worth knowing about how the import behaves:
- Imported values pass through exactly the same validation and sanitisation as a normal settings save, so a hand-edited file cannot push unchecked values into your configuration.
- Any setting the file does not contain keeps its current value rather than being reset. That means an older export made before a feature existed will not wipe that feature’s settings.
- The file is checked to confirm it came from this plugin, and files above 2 MB are rejected.
The one thing to watch is that settings referencing site content — the rewards page, products chosen for rewards, template coupons — expect that content to exist on the site you import into. Moving a configuration between sites usually means re-selecting those.
Export customer balances
Points & Rewards › Customer Points has an Export CSV button that downloads every customer’s current balance and lifetime earned total.
Export the activity log
Points & Rewards › Points Activity Log has its own Export CSV button, and it respects whatever filters you have applied — date range, customer, action text, points range and type. Filter to what you need first and the export matches, rather than downloading everything and cutting it down afterwards.
This is the export to reach for when reconciling the programme against your accounts, or investigating a specific customer’s history.
What is not exported
The settings export covers configuration only. Customer balances, the activity log and reward vouchers are data, not settings, and are not included in the JSON file. Importing settings onto another site does not carry any customer’s points across — for that, see the migration tool.
