Conditional rules for earning and spending (PRO)

Updated September 14, 2026

Conditional rules let you vary how store credit behaves for particular orders instead of applying one policy to everything. Build them under Store Credit › Settings › Conditional Rules. This is a PRO feature.

Each rule has a context, a condition, and an action: what area it governs, when it matches, and what happens when it does.

Pick a context

  • Earning credit (cashback) – adjusts the purchase cashback a matching order generates.
  • Spending credit – adjusts how much credit may be applied to a matching cart.

Set the condition

  • Any order – matches everything, for a blanket change.
  • Specific products or Product categories – matches on what is in the cart.
  • Customer roles or Specific customers – matches on who is buying.
  • Cart / order total or Number of items – matches on a numeric threshold.
  • Payment method – matches on how they are paying.

Conditions that pick from a list also have an include or exclude operator, so “everything except the Clearance category” is as easy to express as “only Clearance”.

Choose the action

For earning:

  • Set the earn rate (%) – replaces the default cashback rate for matching orders.
  • Multiply the earn rate – enter 2 for double credit.
  • Add a fixed bonus of credit – a flat amount on top of the normal cashback.
  • Do not award credit – matching orders earn nothing.

For spending:

  • Prevent credit from being spent – blocks redemption on matching carts entirely.
  • Limit credit to a % of the cart.
  • Limit credit to a fixed amount, regardless of the balance available.

Worked examples

  • Double cashback for wholesale customers: context Earning, condition Customer roles including your wholesale role, action Multiply the earn rate set to 2.
  • No credit earned on clearance stock: context Earning, condition Product categories including Clearance, action Do not award credit.
  • Credit capped at half the cart on gift cards: context Spending, condition Specific products, action Limit credit to a % of the cart set to 50.

Give each rule a descriptive label – the list gets hard to read quickly once you have more than a handful, and the label is the only thing that tells you why a rule exists.
