Require a minimum spend or number of past orders (PRO)
Updated September 15, 2026
The Customer Order History section (PRO) makes a coupon available only to customers who have already spent a certain amount, or placed a certain number of orders. It is in the Better Coupon Restrictions tab on the coupon edit screen.
Minimum Total Customer Spent
Enter an amount in your store currency. The coupon only works if the customer’s total spent on past orders is at least this much. The total comes from WooCommerce’s own “total spent” figure for the customer account.
Message: “This coupon requires a minimum total spend on past orders of £100.00.”
Minimum Total Customer Orders
Enter a number of orders. Only paid orders (Processing or Completed by default) and refunded orders are counted.
Message: “This coupon requires a minimum total past orders of 5.”
Logged in customers only
Both rules read the history of the logged in account. Guests always have a total of zero, so they cannot use a coupon with either rule set, even if they have ordered before with the same email address. Tell customers to log in, or set Customer Logged In Status to Logged In so they see a clearer message.
Custom message
Use Custom Error Message in this section to change the wording. {value} is replaced with the amount or number of orders required, for example “This reward unlocks once you have placed {value} orders.”
