Restrict a coupon by email domain (PRO)
Updated September 15, 2026
The Customer Email section (PRO) allows a coupon only for customers whose email address is from an approved domain, or blocks chosen domains. It suits staff perks, partner company discounts and student offers.
Find it in the Better Coupon Restrictions tab on the coupon edit screen.
Allowed Email Domains
Enter one domain per line, for example:
company.com
partner.co.uk
The coupon only works for email addresses on these domains. Subdomains match too, so company.com also accepts sales.company.com. Entries written as @company.com or *.company.com work the same way.
Message: “This coupon is only available to customers with an email address from an approved domain.”
Disallowed Email Domains
Enter one domain per line. Customers with an email address on these domains, or their subdomains, cannot use the coupon.
Message: “This coupon is not available for your email address.”
Which email address is checked
The plugin uses the billing email address. If none has been entered, it uses the account email for logged in customers. For guests, the rule waits until an email is entered at checkout and then checks it.
Anyone can type any email address at checkout, so an email domain rule on its own does not prove a customer works for that company. For stronger control, combine it with Customer Logged In Status set to Logged In, so the account email is used.
