Limit a coupon to a time of day

Updated September 15, 2026

Allowed Time of Day makes a coupon valid only between two times each day, using the store timezone. It is in the Date section of the Better Coupon Restrictions tab.

Set a time window

  1. Edit the coupon and open the Better Coupon Restrictions tab.
  2. In Allowed Time of Day, enter a start time and an end time.
  3. Save the coupon.

Both times are inclusive. A window of 17:00 to 19:00 accepts the coupon at 17:00 and at 19:00.

Windows that run past midnight

If the end time is earlier than the start time, the window runs overnight. 22:00 to 02:00 is valid from 10pm until 2am the next morning.

Only a start or only an end

  • With only a start time, the coupon works from that time until midnight.
  • With only an end time, it works from midnight until that time.

Combining with dates and days

Time of day is checked together with the other date rules. For a Friday evening offer, choose Friday in Allowed Weekdays and set 18:00 to 23:59 as the time window.

What the shopper sees

Outside the window the shopper sees “This coupon is not available at this time of day.” To change it, use Custom Error Message in the Date section. That message is shared with the date range, month and weekday rules.

A coupon applied inside the window stays in the cart until WooCommerce next re-validates it. If the window closes while the shopper is still checking out, the coupon is removed at that point.
