Customise the audio content for a single post

PRO users can change what’s spoken for an individual post without editing the post itself. In the post editor’s AI TTS box, tick Customise TTS content and choose a Customisation type: Insert Before and After or Replace Content. The customisation is used when you click Generate TTS.
Insert text before and after the post
- Tick Customise TTS content.
- Set Customisation type to Insert Before and After.
- Fill in Before content and/or After content, for example a note that the article was updated, or a call to action specific to this post.
- Click Generate TTS.
The title, author and date intro and any global before/after text from the settings are still included. The character count and estimated cost update as you type.
Replace the spoken content completely
Use this when the audio should differ from the page, for example a shorter summary, a script written for listening, or a page built with a page builder whose text the plugin can’t read.
- Tick Customise TTS content and set Customisation type to Replace Content.
- Type your script into Custom TTS content. To start from the existing post, click Import existing content, which copies in the saved title and post text without formatting, then edit it.
- Click Generate TTS.
With Replace Content, only your custom text is spoken. The title, author and date intro and the global before/after text are all left out, so include anything you want read in the script itself.
Things to know
- Custom text is plain text. HTML tags and line breaks are removed, so separate sections with full stops.
- The fields mention a
[pause]tag. In version 3.2.0 all square-bracket tags are removed before the text is sent to OpenAI, so a full stop or a new sentence is the more reliable way to get a break. - Custom pronunciations still apply to custom text.
- Keep a copy of long scripts somewhere else. The customisation fields are used at generation time, and the text may not be there when you reload the editor later.
