Generate a report for a customer

Updated September 15, 2026

Customer reports are generated from the search box at the top of WooCommerce › Customer Reports. Enter something that identifies the customer, pick them from the suggestions, then select Generate Report.

What you can search by

The search box accepts any of the following, and suggestions appear as you type:

  • Username
  • Email address
  • Display name
  • First or last name, including the billing name recorded on their orders
  • Numeric customer ID

Guests appear in the suggestions too, labelled (guest) and identified by the email address they used at checkout. Registered accounts are always preferred over guests when a search term matches both.

Other ways to open a report

  • Select View Report against any row in the customers list below the search box.
  • Go to Users › All Users and select View Report in the Customer Report column.

Share or bookmark a report

Every report has its own web address. When a report opens, the browser URL updates to include that customer, so you can copy the address out of the address bar and send it to a colleague, or bookmark it to come straight back to the same customer later.

Registered customers are carried in the URL as user_id and username; guests are carried as customer_email. Opening one of those links loads the report for that customer automatically.

Anyone opening the link still needs to be logged in with permission to view the reports screen, so a shared link does not expose customer data to anyone who could not already see it.

If no customer is found

When nothing matches what you typed, the report area shows No customer found along with the term you searched for. Check for typos, try the email address instead of the name, and bear in mind that a guest can only be found once they have placed at least one order.
