Settings page overview

All plugin options live at AI Text-to-Speech › Settings, split across seven tabs. One Save Changes button at the bottom saves every tab at once, so you can switch between tabs before saving. Only administrators can open this page.
General Settings
- OpenAI API Secret Key: your key from platform.openai.com. Click How to get started for setup steps.
- Voice Model: GPT-4o mini TTS (New), the default, or Basic TTS-1 (Old).
- OpenAI TTS Pricing: reference prices plus a checkbox to Show the “estimate cost” when generating audio for posts (on by default).
- Error Log: appears only when there are errors. Shows the 10 most recent generation errors with a Delete link to clear them.
- Show Player Label and Player Label: the small text under the player. Default: “Listen to the audio version of this article (generated by AI).”
File Storage
File Storage Location: Local (default, saves to /wp-content/uploads/ai-text-to-speech/) or Dropbox (PRO), with the Dropbox connection fields.
Content Customisations
- Title, Author Name and Post Date: whether each is read at the start of the audio. All on by default.
- Custom Text Before Content and Custom Text After Content (PRO): text added to every generation.
- Shortcodes (PRO): a reminder list of the shortcodes you can use in posts.
Custom Pronunciations (PRO)
Up to 20 Word and Pronunciation pairs that are swapped in before audio is generated.
Automation (PRO)
- Auto-generate TTS for new posts: off by default.
- Default Voice and Default Voice Style: what’s pre-selected when generating.
Player Customisations (PRO)
- Player Accent Color and Player Background Color: Default or Custom.
- Player Height: Large (Default), Medium or Small (Compact).
- Default Player Speed: 0.5 to 2, default 1.
- Enable TTS Statistics: on by default for PRO.
Limits and Permissions
- Enabled for Post Types: All (default) or Specific, with Post Types To Enable checkboxes.
- Enabled for User Roles: All (default) or Specific, with User Roles To Enable checkboxes.
