TeraWallet (listed on WordPress.org as Wallet for WooCommerce) is the free wallet most WooCommerce stores start with, and for a lot of them it’s all they’ll ever need. People usually go looking for an alternative when they need something TeraWallet keeps for its Pro add-on, like credit expiry, or something it doesn’t offer at all, like voucher codes.
Which alternative makes sense depends on what sent you looking:
- You want vouchers as well as a wallet, and an importer for your TeraWallet balances: Simple Store Credit
- You want another free wallet, with withdrawals included: Wallet System for WooCommerce
- You want credit expiry without paying for it: Advanced Coupons

One thing to be upfront about: we make Simple Store Credit. It’s the newest plugin on this list (it launched in September 2026), so it has none of the track record TeraWallet has. We’ve listed real downsides for every plugin here, ours included.
Why store owners look for a TeraWallet alternative
TeraWallet isn’t a bad plugin, so it’s fair to start with what it gets right. It’s installed on more than 20,000 stores, averages 4.7/5 across 188 reviews on WordPress.org, and was updated a couple of weeks ago. Top-ups, cashback, partial payments and customer-to-customer transfers are all free, and it can reward customers for signing up or writing a review.
The reasons people move on tend to be more specific:
- Expiry and withdrawals cost extra. Setting credit to expire and letting customers withdraw their balance are both part of TeraWallet Pro, along with the CSV importer and the reports on unused credit.
- All credit lives in the wallet. The free plugin has no voucher-style credit, so there’s nothing to hand to a gift recipient or a guest who doesn’t have an account.
- There’s no cap on redemption. We couldn’t find a setting in the free or Pro feature lists that limits how much of an order the wallet can cover. If you want credit to reduce a basket rather than pay for all of it, you’ll need something else.
- It relies on a hidden product. TeraWallet creates a “Wallet Topup” product when it’s activated, and its FAQ says it has to stay published and private. It’s easy to delete by accident when tidying up the product list.
If none of those affect you, TeraWallet is probably still the right choice, and moving every customer’s balance to a new plugin isn’t something to do for the sake of it.
How we compared these plugins
We make WooCommerce plugins ourselves, including one on this list, and wallets and store credit come up a lot in our support inbox. To keep this list useful for TeraWallet users, we only included plugins that can take over its core job: a balance per customer that can be spent at checkout. We then went through each one’s live pricing page, its WordPress.org or WooCommerce.com listing and its documentation, looking at how it deals with the gaps above. Everything was checked on September 25th 2026 unless a note says otherwise.

1. Simple Store Credit for WooCommerce
This is our plugin, so weigh what follows with that in mind. Simple Store Credit keeps a wallet balance for each customer, much like TeraWallet, but it can also hold credit in vouchers. A voucher is an ordinary WooCommerce coupon with a balance that can be spent over several orders, either locked to one customer or open to anyone with the code.
The part that matters most if you’re leaving TeraWallet is the migration tool. It’s in the free version, and it imports TeraWallet balances along with each customer’s transaction history. It scans first and shows how many customers and how much credit it found, then works through customers in batches and gives you a results table at the end.
Refunds to credit, customer top-ups and vouchers are free. Cashback isn’t: TeraWallet includes it in the free plugin, while Simple Store Credit keeps it for PRO, along with expiry, gifting and the conditional rules you’d use to cap redemption at a percentage of the cart or a fixed amount.
The obvious downside is age. It came out in September 2026 and has no reviews yet, so you’re relying on our word rather than other stores’ experience. Guests can’t spend a wallet balance either, only an unassigned voucher code.
Best for: stores that want vouchers and a wallet together, and a straightforward way to bring TeraWallet balances across.
Better than TeraWallet for:
- Credit vouchers that guests and gift recipients can use
- A free importer for TeraWallet balances and history
Not as good as TeraWallet for:
- Cashback, which TeraWallet includes for free
- Withdrawals, and free transfers between customers

2. Wallet System for WooCommerce (WP Swings)
Of everything here, this is the plugin that works most like TeraWallet. The balance is a payment method at checkout, and the plugin is free on WordPress.org, where it has 2,000+ active installs and a 4.9/5 rating from 64 reviews.
The difference is how much the free version includes. Withdrawal and transfer requests, a referral program, low-balance emails, daily login credit and a wallet for in-person POS sales are all free, whereas TeraWallet keeps withdrawals for Pro. Pro adds payment requests between customers, automatic PayPal withdrawals, fees on withdrawals and transfers, and negative balances.
All those extras make for busy settings screens, and a store that only needs refunds to credit will be turning a lot off. Also, when we looked on September 22nd, its WordPress.org listing and Pro sales page didn’t agree on which tier some features were in (buy now pay later and KYC checks, for example), so check before you rely on one.
Best for: TeraWallet users who want withdrawals without buying an add-on.
Better than TeraWallet for:
- Withdrawal requests in the free version
- Referral program and low-balance emails
Not as good as TeraWallet for:
- Size of user base (2,000+ installs against 20,000+)
- Simplicity, with far more settings to work through

3. Advanced Coupons
If expiry is the main thing you’re missing, Advanced Coupons is the one to look at. It’s a coupon plugin at heart, but the free version on WordPress.org includes a store credit balance with expiry built in, and it has 20,000+ active installs with a 4.4/5 rating from 184 reviews.
Credit can be added or removed by an admin or issued from a refund, and it can be set to expire after as little as 30 days. Logged-in customers apply their balance at checkout, block checkout included. A paid plan adds reminder emails for unused credit and a percentage cap on how much of an order credit can cover.
What it doesn’t do is let customers load their own money. Top-ups aren’t among its advertised store credit features, so if your customers top up in TeraWallet today, you’d lose that. The paid plans also cost more than TeraWallet Pro once the first-year discount ends.
Best for: stores that mainly issue credit for refunds and goodwill, and want it to expire without buying a Pro license.
Better than TeraWallet for:
- Expiry on the free plan
- A percentage cap on redemption (paid plans)
Not as good as TeraWallet for:
- Customer top-ups, which aren’t advertised

4. Account Funds for WooCommerce
Account Funds, from Kestrel, is sold on WooCommerce.com. At checkout it behaves much like TeraWallet, with the balance paying for a whole order or part of one.
The main difference is that expiry is included rather than sold as an add-on, and each type of reward can have its own expiry period. Refunds to funds, cashback, discounted prepaid credit, WooCommerce Subscriptions support and REST API access come with it too.
You can’t try it for free, though. Your only safety net is WooCommerce.com’s 30-day refund, and the listing gives you little to judge it by: 1,000+ active installs and 5 reviews averaging 4/5.
Best for: stores that buy their extensions from WooCommerce.com and want expiry and cashback in one paid plugin.
Better than TeraWallet for:
- Expiry without an add-on, set per reward type
- Buying and support through WooCommerce.com

5. YITH WooCommerce Account Funds
YITH Account Funds is built for prepaid accounts, such as trade customers who deposit money and order against it. YITH’s own page shows 8,142 customers and a 4.5/5 rating.
Deposits are where it beats TeraWallet. You can offer a bonus for depositing (pay $90, receive $100), set deposit limits, discount orders paid entirely from funds and email customers when their balance gets low. Part payments work too, and it connects with YITH’s Subscriptions and Multi Vendor plugins.
Rewards are the weak spot. Cashback, expiry and refunds to funds don’t appear on the sales page, so check the docs if you use any of them in TeraWallet now. It also needs a recent setup: WordPress 6.9, WooCommerce 10.9 and PHP 8.0 at the time of writing.
Best for: prepaid accounts where you want to reward customers for depositing more.
Better than TeraWallet for:
- Deposit bonuses

Not as good as TeraWallet for:

6. Smart Coupons
Smart Coupons, from StoreApps, doesn’t keep one balance per customer the way TeraWallet does. Credit lives in coupon codes that remember what’s left after each order. It’s on WooCommerce.com with 20,000+ active installs and a 4.4/5 rating from 234 reviews.
That makes it a good fit when most of your credit comes from gift cards. You can sell them at fixed or customer-chosen amounts, schedule delivery, and send credit to any email address, including people who have never bought from you. The trade-off is the reverse of TeraWallet’s. Codes work for anyone, but a customer with three refunds ends up with three codes, and your coupon list fills up with them.
Best for: shops where gift cards matter more than a customer wallet.

How to move customer balances off TeraWallet
The plugin is the easy part. The thing to get right is making sure every customer ends up with the same balance they had before. Whichever plugin you pick, the process looks roughly like this:
- Back up the site. A balance import writes to customer accounts, and it usually can’t be undone with a button.
- Do a trial run on a staging copy. Import there first and compare a handful of customers’ balances against TeraWallet.
- Pick a quiet time for the real import. Any top-up or wallet payment made during the switch may not come across, so avoid busy periods.
- Keep TeraWallet installed until you’ve checked. Turn off its payment method so no new wallet transactions are made, but leave the plugin (and its data) in place until you’re happy every balance matches.
- Tell your customers. A short email explaining where their balance now shows in My Account saves a lot of “where’s my credit?” support tickets.
Simple Store Credit has a built-in importer for TeraWallet that brings over balances and transaction history, and it downloads a CSV of the results so you can check each account. With other plugins, check their documentation for an importer before you start, or ask their support how they’d handle it.

Will customers lose their balance if I switch from TeraWallet?
Not if you import the balances before you switch the old plugin off. Balances belong to the plugin that created them, so a new plugin won’t see them on its own. Use an importer, check a few accounts by hand, and only then remove TeraWallet.
What’s the best free alternative to TeraWallet?
It depends on the gap you’re trying to fill. Wallet System for WooCommerce is the closest like-for-like wallet and includes withdrawals for free. Advanced Coupons is the one to look at for free credit expiry. Simple Store Credit’s free version adds vouchers and imports your TeraWallet balances.
Can I use TeraWallet and another store credit plugin at the same time?
You can have both installed, but running two balances side by side confuses customers and makes it easy to pay out credit twice. Use the overlap only for the switch itself, with TeraWallet’s payment method turned off.
Does TeraWallet work with the WooCommerce block checkout?
Yes. The free plugin lists support for the WooCommerce block cart and checkout, so moving to blocks isn’t a reason to switch on its own. If you do switch, make sure the new plugin supports whichever checkout you use.
Which TeraWallet alternative should you pick?
Start from the reason you’re leaving. For free withdrawals and transfers, Wallet System for WooCommerce is the nearest swap. If it’s expiry you’re after and your customers don’t top up their own wallets, Advanced Coupons does it for free. Whatever you choose, run the import on a staging site first.
