Version 2.3.0 of AI Text to Speech for WordPress was released on 24 January 2025.
It adds three new voices, several new PRO options, a short pause between paragraphs, and two fixes. Here’s what changed.
New features
- Three new OpenAI voices: Ash, Coral and Sage are now available when generating audio.
- Default voice (PRO): a new “Default Voice” setting lets you pick the voice used for new audio, so you don’t have to choose it on every post.
- Auto-generate audio for new posts (PRO): audio can now be generated automatically when a post is published, so you don’t have to remember to do it.
- Multiple voices in one post (PRO): wrap text in the
[voice=""]and[/voice]shortcodes to switch voices part-way through the audio. This is useful for dialogue or interviews. - Skip parts of a post (PRO): wrap text in
[tts ignore]and[/tts]to leave it out of the audio, for example notes or disclaimers. - Custom pronunciation (PRO): use
[tts say=""]and[/tts]to tell the voice how to say a particular word.
Improvements
- Audio flow: we changed how the audio is put together so it reads more naturally.
- Paragraph pauses: a short pause is now added between paragraphs.
Fixes
- Cost estimate option: the toggle for showing the “estimate cost” text in the post editor now works.
- User role permissions: fixed permission issues for some user roles.
