About RelyWP

RelyWP is a WordPress development company founded by Elliot Sowersby, a developer based in Bridlington, Yorkshire, UK.

Originally starting as a WordPress services company, offering website development and care plans, RelyWP is now a dedicated plugin development company.

Today, the company’s primary focus is developing high-quality WordPress plugins, which have reached over 145,000+ active installs combined.

History & Founding

The journey began in 2009 when founder Elliot Sowersby taught himself PHP to build a custom tournament management system. After graduating in BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from Hull University in 2016, he spent years developing sites for brands worldwide including The Fragrance Shop, Bluesound and Contently.

RelyWP was officially launched in 2019, transitioning from freelance work to a limited company. While initially focused on client services, the company pivoted in 2022 to focus on plugin development following the success of internal projects like Coupon Affiliates and Simple Cloudflare Turnstile.

RelyWP Today

Since 2025, plugin development has become almost 100% of RelyWP’s focus, and the company has phased out client services completely.

As for the future, RelyWP aims to simply continue developing and improving its existing suite of plugins, whilst offering high-quality support. We are open to creating new, useful tools over the next few years if the right opportunities arise.
